GAND

Gand are short and stocky, very insectoid in appearance, about
the same height as a young human. They are ammonia breathers,
requiring them to use a special breathing apparatus while in
an atmosphere lacking excessive amounts of ammonia. They also
possess a keratin eye-shielding, as well as a second layer of
chitin, shielding their sensitive eyes from almost any dangers.
Gand height ranges from 1.6-1.9 meters. The Gand are a species
of short, stocky humanoids with three fingers and a greenish-gray
skin tone. They are a very isolated species, and Gand are often
seen as very humbled beings due to the nature of their society.
Most Gand simply call themselves Gand until they have distinguished
themselves in some way to warrant the earning of a family name.
To use the pronoun "I" is for a Gand to assume that all present
would know who he is, and thus is a great honor awarded by the
Gand culture. Typically, this need to earn identity causes most
Gand to be soft-spoken and polite. Gand are hardworking and
require only a fraction of the sleep that other species do,
leaving them time to themselves while other species sleep. Gand
are also very secretive, and do not often share information
about themselves, their homeworld, or their companions unless
absolutely necessary.
